Hyderabad, Oct.21 (Maxim News): For the first time after the Telangana State election schedule announced, Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat and Election Commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa arriving here today to review poll preparedness in the State.
According to State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar, CEC Om Prakash Rawat and Election Commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa are scheduled to visit Hyderabad on Monday for a three-day visit to review the poll arrangements. Rajat Kumar said some 11 EC officials led by Rawat will arrive here at 3.15 pm and meet political parties from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. They will later meet the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and the State police nodal officers from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
On Tuesday, the team will meet DEOs, SPs, DIGs and IGs from 10 am to 1.30 pm and another round of meeting with DEOs and SPs will be held from 2.30 pm to 6pm. On Wednesday, the EC officials are scheduled to meet with DG (IT) and enforcement teams from 10 am to 11 am and after which they will take stock of poll arrangements and law and order situation with Chief Secretary Dr SK Joshi from 11.15 am to 12 noon. The EC team would meet the Director General of the Income Tax Department and other senior officials before leaving for the national capital on October 24. The CEC will address the media at 12.30 pm on the last day.
Today a meeting was held with all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police to discuss several poll-related issues, including the functioning of EVMs, VVPATs and voter list issues. (Maxim News)
