Cell Phone Thieves Arrested: 19 Phones And One Auto Recovered

Hyderabad, Sept 4 (Maxim News): The Bowenpally Police in Hyderabad have arrested two organized cell phone thieves and recovered 19 phones and one autorickshaw from them.  The accused have been identified as Syed Sajid, Mohd Amer, Mohammed Ahmed, and Mohammed Shafi. 

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, Chandana Deepti said that the accused used to pose as auto passengers and steal phones from other passengers.  They would target crowded areas such as Banjara Hills, Panjagutta, Bowenpally, Gachibowli, and Madhapur. The police received a complaint from a man who had his phone stolen by the accused while he was traveling in an autorickshaw. Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested the four accused. 

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Telangana Motor Vehicles Act.  They have been remanded to judicial custody. 

The police have appealed to the public to be vigilant and keep their belongings safe while traveling in auto rickshaws.  They have also asked the public to note down the autorickshaw number if they feel something suspicious. 

The Deputy Commissioner said that due to the active efforts made by V.Sadar Naik, Detective Inspector of Police, Bowenpally and B.Lakshmi Narayana Reddy, SHO, Bowenpally, and crime staff under the supervision of VVS Ramalinga Raju, Asst, Commissioner of Police, Begumpet division and B.Madhusudhan Rao, Addl. DCP, North Zone nabbed the accused and recovered the stolen cell phone and one auto. 

The efforts of the said officers and staff are highly appreciated and the proposals are being forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad city for suitably rewarding them.  (Maxim News)
