Central team happy with Telangana’s Covid battle
Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited Hyderabad to make a spot assessment of Covid-19 situation expressed satisfaction over measures taken by State government to contain SARS-CoV-2 in Telangana.
The team observed that lockdown and social distancing measures were being implemented successfully with the able participation from community leaders.
Sharing details of the feedback submitted by the IMCT, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Punya Salila Srivastava said in New Delhi that the team had found an adequate stock of Covid-19 testing and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits in Telangana.
“The State government has employed an end-to-end IT dashboard, which is tracking patients from testing to discharge. Treatment and discharge protocols of Covid-19 patients are being followed at Gandhi Hospital. The hospital has 93 per cent of the State’s entire Covid-19 patients and is also equipped with a laboratory to undertake 300 tests a day,” IMCT report, according to the MHA official, said.
After the treatment, the patients were being dropped home in vehicles arranged by the government. Mobile messages were being sent to suspected cases who were under home quarantine while the patients also had access to free WiFi, the report said.
The IMCT team, which also visited the King Koti district hospital, observed that all the protocols were being followed satisfactorily. “The team has advised that donning and doffing areas where doctors put on and take off their PPE kits should be separated. Healthcare workers and patients should also be provided with separate corridors. The team has also advised not to use rooms with no attached toilets at the hospital,” Punya said.
The team had expressed satisfaction over the way restrictions were implemented at the Humayunnagar containment zone. The authorities also tracked the stock availability in real-time through the drugs stock monitoring system of the Central Drug Store.
