Centre Being ‘Step-Motherly’ Towards Telangana: Gutha

Nalgonda, July 21 (Maxim News): Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was adopting a step-motherly attitude towards Telangana State in the allocation of funds and other projects.

Speaking to the media at his residence here on Thursday, Gutha Sukender Reddy said the union government was working against the federal spirit of Indian Constitution and was violating the rights of Indian States.

The Legislative Council Chairman said the Centre owes about Rs 23,000 crore to Telangana, including the arrears of 13th, 14th and 15th Finance Commissions, backward region grant, GST compensation and central-sponsored schemes and the union government has stopped releasing amount to the Telangana.

The people are already suffering from the hike in prices of diesel, petrol and domestic gas cylinder. Adding to their woes further, the union government has indiscriminately increased GST taxes on household commodities. The fresh hike in GST tax on cremation is one of the worst decisions by Modi government,” Gutha Sukender Reddy said.

He demanded that the union government rollback the decision of increasing GST taxes on household commodities and protect the rights of States. (Maxim News)
