Centre failed to procure the TS paddy: Niranjan Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov.13 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today accused the Centre of miserably failing to procure food grains from the states.

At a program here he said that the Centre is ignoring its responsibility to procure the paddy from Telangana state. It has to get the stocks by pressing FCI and other officials immediately, he demanded. Though the state government made repeated appeals in this regard the Centre is adamant, he criticised. The state government is procuring the paddy in rain season and the Centre has to pick up Yasangi stocks, he said.

The state government is spending adequate funds to get the stocks from our farmers. For this the officials set up purchase centers in all mandals he claimed. The State will get the paddy from the farmers and the Centre has to get them from, the minister said.

The Centre instead of getting the same is dilly dallying with false reasons. The Centre is adopting double standards on the paddy procurement, he charged.

How can the Central officials and Modi Government ignore the need to take our paddy stocks while they get the same from Punjab, he questioned. This partiality is being observed by the state people and farmers, he said.

The State BJP leaders are trying to misguide the farmers by false campaign, he fumed. Instead the BJP president Bandi Sanjay and Arvind should press the Centre to procure the same, he demanded. The Centre is supposed to get the paddy from the state or face stiff protests he said.

Stating that there is no space in godowns the Centre cannot escape from its responsibility, he said. FCI officials and the Central officials should not neglect to get them, Niranjan Reddy further said. (Maxim News)
