Centre Sanctioned 6 New Urban Forests In Telangana
Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan 21 (Maxim News): Telangana will get 6 urban forests. The Center has said that it is sanctioning Rs. 8.26 crores to the state under ‘Nagar Van Yojana‘. The Center has said that 70 percent of the funds have been released as part of the first tranche. The Center has sanctioned these funds under the Nagar Van Yojana scheme implemented by the Central Government with the aim of increasing greenery in the cities.
For the establishment of 6 new urban forests in Telangana for the financial year 2025-26, 70 percent of the funds, a total of Rs. 8.26 crore, have been sanctioned in the first tranche by the Central Government, forest officials said.
Officials said that the main objective of the Nagar Van yojana scheme is to maintain ecological balance and reduce pollution by establishing urban forests within the city limits and provide a healthy living environment to the people. They said that in the urban forests to be established under the Nagar Van Yojana, priority will be given to local flora and extensive planting of trees will be done.
Urban forests will provide people with walking paths, rest centers, and green spaces to enjoy nature. Officials said that these urban forests will be a special attraction for children, the elderly and morning and evening walkers. The approved urban forest areas are 2 each in Medchal-Malkajgiri District, Mancherial and Adilabad district.
Officials said that the establishment of these urban forests will expand the greenery in the cities and improve the air quality. Also, issues like controlling the rise in temperatures, conserving rainwater, and conserving biodiversity will be of importance. Officials said that these urban forests will play a key role in putting Telangana at the forefront of environmental protection through the Nagar Van Yojana.
