Centre should purchase Paddy from State: Kamalakar

Hyderabad, Nov.5 (Maxim News): Civil Supplies Minister of Telangana, Gangula Kamalakar today demanded that the Centre should purchase total paddy stocks from Telangana.

He said that the Centre cannot avoid procuring the paddy from the state. Reacting to the centre’s denial mood to purchase paddy stocks from the state, he expressed displeasure.

The Centre is supposed to decide MSP for crops and ensure that the stocks are procured from any state across the country. It is for the Centre to get the paddy from our state and help the farmers with MSP, he said while starting a purchase center in Karim Nagar district.

We are starting an adequate number of purchase centers in all districts to procure stocks from the farmers, the minister said. There is no need of worry for the farmers as the officials are in the field to get them, he assured. In three to four days the paddy stocks will clear and offer MSP, the minister said.

We have urged the Centre to procure our paddy stocks by giving MSP, the minister said. The minister urged the Centre to procure all produce from Telangana. The Centre is stating that they cannot procure total paddy from the state as there is less space for storage.

The minister said that they mounted pressure on the Centre to purchase or procure every seed from the state. The Centre decides MSP and has to procure our produce, he said.

The Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to the Centre to procure all paddy stocks from the state, the minister said. The farmers cultivate crops and the Centre has to give MSP and procure the same, he said. (Maxim News)
