Hyderabad, Nov.6 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today expressed displeasure that the Centre was not ready to procure paddy from the state and asked it to export.
There is a need for the farmers to take up alternative crops and the government will not procure paddy from them in the next Yasangi season.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has more commitment for the farmers than any others he said and slammed the opposition parties for false politics.
The farmers can take up paddy crops if they have any understanding with the millers and marketing. The government is not able to procure the same in Yasangi he clarified talking to press persons at Ministers quarters with Civil Supplies Minister G Kamalakar.
Niranjan Reddy informed that the government will not purchase paddy from next Yasangi season. However, this rainy season crops will be procured from the farmers who should not worry, he said and asked them to alternate crops.
The Centre has to procure stocks and deny, he said. He said that the farmers who have links with seed companies and millers can go for paddy cropping. Due to moisture in Yasangi crops the centre is not ready to procure it, he said.
Last year the farmers in the state failed to grow cotton in more acres as suggested by the government he said. The Minister said that we are providing purchase centers in all districts and mandals. The farmers should take up alternate crops to get benefits as the Centre is not ready to get our crops.
The Centre is asking us to export the produce which is not correct, the Minister said adding that the farmers can wait and give their produce at the purchase centers. There is no need for panic among the farmers who should take up other crops than paddy.
