CEO apprises EC of poll preparedness, Team may visit State on Oct 10
Hyderabad, Oct.5 (Maxim News): The Election Commission is likely to send its official team on October 10 to Telangana to assess afresh the poll arrangements in the State.
The Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Ravath today conducted a high-level meeting in Delhi with five States going for Assembly polls. From Telangana, CEO Rajat Kumar attended the meeting and presented a report about the preparedness for conducting the elections in the State. The EC has discussed in detail the poll arrangements with all the CEOs in attendance. OP Ravath sought to know individually about poll preparedness with electoral rolls, EVMs, VVPATs and other security arrangements.
Ravath also discussed about additions and deletions of names in the voter lists. He hoped that the CEOs have taken all measures by providing voting chance to all the eligible youths and students. The CEOs are understood to have apprised the EC that they have addressed the objections and requests of the people and political parties before preparing the final lists of the electoral lists.
Ravath is understood to have expressed satisfaction at the training classes for election staff on the EVMs and VVPATs usage. The meeting also focused on the Supreme Court decision to see that all the objections of deleted names of the voters by some political parties and others have to be addressed while the High Court adjourned the case to next Monday. The EC has asked Rajat Kumar to complete the process of electoral list followed by the court verdict expected on Monday. The CEOs of other States present were of Madhya Pradesh, Rajastan, Chattisgarh and Mizoram. (Maxim News)
