Change State Party Leadership: Rajgopal Urges To High Command

Hyderabad, March 3 (Maxim News): Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy today urged the Congress high command to change the present party leadership in Telangana State as it miserably failed to bring the party back to power in the recent Assembly elections. The present leadership was still being allowed to lead the party even though the Lok Sabha elections are fast approaching.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Rajgopal Reddy said he told the party high command to change the party leadership before the Assembly elections. “With the same set of leaders at the helm, the party was not able to find any enthusiasm. I am appealing to the party high command to change the State party leadership immediately,” he added. He also said the party fared very badly in the last Assembly elections as the candidates were not announced till last moment. He also exuded confidence that the Congress would bag at least eight seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress MLA from Munogode left the emergency meeting midway citing he had to rush back to his constituency following the death of a party leader. He said he told the meeting that the party needed strong leadership. I had said this before the Assembly elections. “I am only repeating what I had said earlier. The party had failed to announce candidates till the last minute, including candidacy of leaders like me,” he said.

Meanwhile, upset over the defections from their party to the TRS, the Congress Legislature Party members are planning to hold a protest outside the Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s official residence. (Maxim News)
