Chennai rain: OMR, service lanes and streets flooded
Chennai, Nov. 11: Portions of service lane and carriageway have come under thick sheets of water on the OMR Some streets leading to residential localities are also inundated.
Heavy rain coupled with winds made drive a challenge for motorists, who are preferring to have a cautious ride.
The service lanes near Tidel Park and Karapakkam were inundated while parts of the arterial road were flooded.
Several shops remained closed on the IT corridor in the morning. They opening around the noon. There was thin traffic due to inclement weather conditions.
At Okkiyam-Thoraipakkam, an earthmover was pressed into service to clear the obstruction for free movement of water. A street adjacent to the high road was flooded due to heavy downpour. Some interior pockets of Navalur was affected due to floods, according to local residents.
Ravi, a resident of Karapakkam said that incessant rain since Wednesday night was the major reason for the service lane getting flooded in the area.
