Hyderabad, March 31: The CID has issued notices to BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy in connection with a case linked to remarks against the Karimnagar Police Commissioner. The notice directs him to appear for questioning on April 4 at the CID headquarters in Hyderabad.

According to the notice, the case relates to alleged controversial comments made by the MLA during an incident near the Summakka Sarakka Jatara on January 29 this year. At that time, tensions had escalated at the site. Meanwhile, police registered a case stating that Kaushik Reddy made inappropriate remarks targeting the Karimnagar Police Commissioner during the situation.

Initially, local police handled the investigation. However, later, the government transferred the case to the CID for further inquiry. Subsequently, CID officials collected preliminary evidence. Based on this, they issued formal notices asking the MLA to attend the inquiry.

During the April 4 hearing, officials are expected to record Kaushik Reddy’s statement. The case also includes allegations that he behaved disrespectfully towards a senior officer while the officer was performing official duties. Therefore, the inquiry is likely to focus on these aspects.

Meanwhile, the development has triggered political reactions. The notice comes at a time when Kaushik Reddy has been actively criticising the ruling party. As a result, the issue has become a political talking point. BRS leaders have termed the action as politically motivated. However, officials have maintained that the law will take its course.
