Paying Special Attention to old Stocks Lying in Godwons – 1500 MTs of Redgram disposed Rs.7.50 crores realized by Corporation: Commissioner of Civil Supplies C.V.Anand
Hyderabad, Feb 7 (Maxim News): C. V. Anand, Commissioner of Civil Supplies is paying special attention on the old stocks lying in the godowns without disposal for years together as per the orders of Government and Etela Rajender, Minister Civil Supplies Department.
Due to lying of old stocks in the godowns, space problem has arisen forcing the corporation to hire additional space and also causing damage to the fresh stacks due to cross infestation.
In this process, the Corporation held discussions with the representatives of State Dal Millers Association for disposal of Redgram purchased in May last year and persuaded them to purchase old stock of Redgram and Redgram Dal lying undisposed as nobody came forwarded to purchase this Redgram due to deterioration in quality. Due to the initiation taken now, the Corporation sustained financial loss to some extent. Civil Supplies Corporation will get Rs.7.50 crores on disposal of old stock
Civil Supplies Corporation purchased 2000 MTs of Redgram @ Rs.6930/- per quintal incurring Rs.16 crores from Central Government last year as per the orders of Central and State Governments to make available Redgram dal @ Rs.120/- per Kg. to the poorer sections of society in view of price rise of Redgram dal ranging from Rs.150/- to Rs.170/- per Kg in the open market.
When tenders were called for milling of 500 MTs of Redgram, only one dal miller filed his tender and 335 MTs of Redgram dal is received after milling of 500MTs of Redgram. Corporation is able to sell only 11 MTs of Redgram dal and released 200 MTs to ICDS. Due to sudden downfall in the rate of Redgram dal in the open market, ICDS also did not come forward to purchase Redgram dal. Hence 134 MTs of Redgram dal and 1500 MTs of Redgram is lying undisposed with the corporation.
The issue of old stocks lying in the godown came to the notice of Commissioner of Civil Supplies in the meeting held with the incharges of MLS Points and Commissioner started action for its disposal. When auction was conducted through NCDEX, only one tender is received that too with lesser rate. Due to bumper crop of redgram and downward redgram dal rate, nobody has come forward to purchase old stock. Hence Commissioner of Civil Supplies held series of discussions with the dal millers and convinced the millers to come forward taking it social responsibility as they are also part and parcel of Civil Supplies Department. The dal millers agreed to purchase 493 MTs of redgram @ 3300 per MT, 1008 MTs of redgram @ Rs3100 per MT and 134 MTs of Redgram dal @ Rs.4100 per quintal. Corporation realised Rs.7.50 crores against purchase of 2000 MTs for Rs.15-54 crores.
C.V.Anand, Commissioner of Civil Supplies informed that the Corporation sustained a loss of Rs.8.04 crores in redgram dal due to lack of proper supervision, proper marketing planning and due to downward trend of price of redgram dal in the open market. Due to timely action taken now, the loss is reduced to some extent dal millers were persuaded to agree to purchase redgram to avoid 100% loss. Entire exercise was done with the approval of Government. (Maxim News)
