CM KCR Allocated Fewer Seats to Women

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (Maxim News) Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao has allocated fewer seats to women (7 seats in a total of 119) on this the verbal spats between Telangana BJP chief Kishan Reddy and BRS MLC Kavitha are exploding.

Kavitha, BRS MLC and daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has countered the Kishan Reddy saying that BJP had twice promised to provide reservation for women in the Legislatures. She questioned why the Bill was not passed despite having a huge majority. She demanded to bring a law providing reservations for women in Legislature. She said that because there is a law providing reservations for women in local bodies, 14 lakh women are representing local bodies in the country.

She said that it is not possible to change the situation without making laws by providing reservations in the legislature. She challenged BJP, congress, and other parties to see how many tickets they will allot to women in the elections to be held in Telangana. She said that Chief Minister KCR proposed to increase the number of Parliamentary seats and reserve one-third of the seats for women. She asked what action the Central government has taken on this. She said Kishan Reddy’s concern on women’s rights was surprising but welcomed and finally someone from BJP confirmed the long pending demand.

Kishan Reddy said that Kavitha had staged protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha. But in Telangana, only 7 seats are allotted to women. Referring to Kavitha, he asked if this is all the accounts coming to KCR’s family. Kishan Reddy suggested that before making baseless accusations against the Centre, the BRS party should talk about the priority given to women. (Maxim News)
