The Union Minister has been requested to release the arrears of paddy collected for the year 2014-15 amounting to Rs. 1,468.94 crore. The arrears related to rice supplied under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana amounting to Rs. 343.27 crore have been requested to be released. CM Revanth Reddy and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy have requested the Union Minister to extend the deadline for CMR delivery.

Meanwhile, Ration Cards have not been issued anywhere in Telangana for the last ten years. Now that the Congress government has come to power, it has started giving ration cards to the poor. As part of that, the process of ration cards has also been intensified. The Center has to provide grain and subsidy to the state Civil Supplies Department under the quota of ration cards. On the other hand, grain procurement has been done on a large scale after the Congress government came to power.  The Congress government has purchased about 66.76 lakh metric tons of grain.

In this context, the CM has brought to the attention of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi the need for the Center to purchase its share in relation to the grain procurement, as well as the funds pending in the past regarding the Civil Supplies Department, as well as the funds currently due to the state government.  While Punjab ranks first in grain procurement in the country, Haryana is in second place, and Telangana is in third place.

It is known that apart from purchasing so many lakhs of metric tons of paddy, the Telangana government has also announced a bonus of Rs. 500 for fine rice. This year, more paddy was procured than in the past. Despite not being given water from Kaleshwaram, the crop was cultivated in lakhs of hectares, and the crop was purchased with a subsidy of Rs. 500. Also, as promised in the elections, the Telangana government has taken the initiative to provide fine rice through ration supply from Ugadi. In this context, Chief Minister Revanth requested the Union Minister to immediately sanction the funds due from the Central Civil Supplies Department to Telangana. CM Revanth, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and other officials related to the department also participated in the meeting.  (Maxim News)
