CM Revanth Reddy Directs Officials To Stay ALERT Amid Heavy Rains
Hyderabad, Aug 16 (Maxim News): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered all department officials and staff to be on high alert in the wake of heavy rains. According to the Meteorological Department, 15 districts, except Jagtial, have received heavy rainfall, while the remaining districts have received normal rainfall.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy spoke to senior officials on Saturday morning in the wake of the Meteorological Department’s indications that moderate to heavy rains are likely in Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam districts. The CM said that SDRF and NDRF teams have been deployed in advance in the districts affected by the rains, and they will coordinate with the collectors to take relief measures.
Authorities On Alert
The CM ordered the district authorities to be alert as there is a risk of overflowing of streams and canals, and to shift families in low-lying areas to relief camps. He said that the officials and staff of the Irrigation Department should monitor the water level of reservoirs, ponds, and kuntas from time to time and inform the collectors and field staff in advance about the release of water.
The CM ordered that sandbags should be kept ready at the ponds and reservoirs that are filled. Traffic on low-level bridges and causeways should be completely banned in areas where water has accumulated on the roads. Police and revenue officials should set up barricades near them and keep a watch. The CM ordered the city, municipal, and village sanitation staff to carry out sanitation work at all times, as there is a risk of mosquitoes and other insects breeding and spreading diseases due to the stagnant rainwater in the backdrop of continuous rains.
The CM suggested that the health department should keep adequate medicines available, and medical camps should be set up in necessary places. The CM said that precautions should be taken to prevent loss of life, property, and livestock. The CM suggested that the departments of Revenue, Electricity, Panchayat Raj, R&B, Health, Municipal Administration, Police, Fire and Rescue Department, and SDRF should work in coordination. CM Revanth Reddy ordered that the GHMC, HYDRA, SDRF, and Fire Department staff should respond immediately to the requests received from the people in Hyderabad city. (Maxim News)
