CM Revanth Reddy Welcomes Rs 9,000 Crore Investment From Eli Lilly In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 6 (Maxim News) : In a significant boost to Telangana’s industrial growth, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that global pharmaceutical major Eli Lilly has expressed its intention to invest Rs 9,000 crore in Hyderabad. The American multinational plans to establish a manufacturing plant and a quality control center, further strengthening the city’s status as India’s leading pharma hub.

Representatives from Eli Lilly, including Global President Patrick Johnson and Eli Lilly India President Vincelo Tucker, met with CM Revanth Reddy at the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) on Sunday. Minister Sridhar Babu, Special Secretary to the Government Sanjay Kumar, and Special Secretary to the CM Ajith Reddy also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the company’s decision, CM Revanth Reddy congratulated the Eli Lilly team for choosing Hyderabad for its new venture. He assured them that the Telangana government would extend full support to industries setting up operations in the state.

“Telangana has become a global city and continues to attract world-class companies because of its investor-friendly policies and skilled workforce,” the Chief Minister said. He emphasized that the government’s focus remains on developing Hyderabad into a global innovation hub with strong foundations in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Revanth Reddy recalled that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had established IDPL in Hyderabad in 1965, which laid the foundation for the city’s transformation into a pharma capital. “Today, nearly 40 percent of India’s bulk drugs are produced in Hyderabad, and even during the pandemic, the city led in producing Covid vaccines,” he said.

Highlighting Telangana’s progressive pharma policy, CM Revanth Reddy announced that the government is setting up an ATC center at Genome Valley, which will serve as a hub for advanced technology and research collaboration. He assured that the government will provide technical and infrastructural support to companies working within the Genome Valley cluster.

The Chief Minister also noted that a Skill University, being established under the leadership of industrialist Anand Mahindra, will help develop a new generation of professionals for the pharma and biotech sectors. Several renowned industry leaders are part of this university’s board, ensuring that the academic training remains closely aligned with industry needs.
