CMS VATAVARAN 2026 Jury Selects 58 Films In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Sept 11: The nomination jury for the 14th CMS VATAVARAN International Environment and Wildlife Film Festival selected 58 films for the next stage.

The three day jury process concluded at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) on Thursday.

The process was held from September 8 to 10 at MANUU’s Instructional Media Centre in partnership with CMS VATAVARAN.

The festival received more than 900 films from 82 countries across national and international competitive categories.

CMS VATAVARAN Jury Reviews 286 Films

After the initial peer review, 286 films advanced to the nomination jury.

Twenty eight jury members reviewed the films through seven committees. Student jurors and coordinators also supported the process.

The committees included filmmakers, media professionals, academics and conservation representatives.

MANUU Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan inaugurated the process on September 8.

He said cinema can help young people understand environmental issues and encourage public participation.

CMS Director General Dr. Vasanti Rao said the large number of entries showed growing global interest in environmental storytelling.

Nomination Jury Chairperson Suresh Chukkapalli said the jury assessed cinematic merit and the clarity of environmental stories.

MANUU’s Instructional Media Centre provided screening facilities and technical support for all seven committees.

The university’s students also participated as student jurors and coordinators.

The closing ceremony was held on September 10. MANUU Registrar Prof. Sk. Ishtiaque Ahmed and other senior officials attended the event.

The nominated films will now move to the Awards Jury.

They will be screened during the Hyderabad ReGeneration Forum from December 2 to 5 at Taramati Baradari.

The 14th edition will be held in Hyderabad for the first time. The forum will focus on “Regenerative Development: Going Beyond Sustainability.”

The programme will include film screenings, national dialogues, a ReGeneration Showcase, a Solutions Lab and a Partnership Lounge.
