Cold Waves And Rainfall Alert To Telugu States

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for severe cold waves and possible rainfall across the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This unusual weather is caused by severe cold and a low-pressure system in the southwest Bay of Bengal. The IMD warns that temperatures could drop further in the coming days, with many areas already experiencing below-normal readings.

In Telangana, temperatures have fallen below single digits in several districts. Areas such as Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Nirmal, and Adilabad are under a yellow alert due to cold waves. Temperatures in Asifabad and parts of Sangareddy and Komaram Bheem districts have dropped as low as 7 degrees Celsius. Other regions including Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Sircilla, Kamareddy, Siddipet, and Nizamabad recorded temperatures around 8 degrees. Bhupalpally has seen 9 degrees while Hanumakonda and Warangal experienced slightly warmer conditions at 12 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave is expected to intensify further, impacting districts like Adilabad, Komurambheem, Mancherial, Nirmal, Medak, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, and Vikarabad. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is also witnessing a temperature decline. The lowest temperature recorded is 6 degrees Celsius in Minumuluru of Alluri district. Araku experienced 7.3 degrees while Paderu recorded 8 degrees, accompanied by thick fog.

This drop in temperatures and the accompanying cold wave raise concerns for public health and safety as the winter season sets in. Authorities and residents are advised to prepare for lowering temperatures and potential rainfall in the coming days. The IMD’s timely alerts aim to help mitigate cold-related risks in both states as the weather turns harsh.
