Prime Minister Modi highlighted the success of Coldplay’s recent concerts in India, which have underscored the country’s potential to become a global hub for live events.

“In the past few days, you must have seen the amazing pictures of Coldplay concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This is proof of how much scope India has for live concerts,” he stated.

The British band’s performances were a major success, culminating in a record-breaking final show in Ahmedabad that drew 134,000 attendees, making it the largest ticketed concert ever held in India. With such large-scale events, the Prime Minister pointed out that big international artists are increasingly attracted to India.

PM Modi also noted that the growing concert economy provides significant benefits to tourism and creates large-scale employment opportunities.

He stressed that India’s expanding live concert industry contributes to the nation’s economic growth, and as more international artists come to India, the industry will continue to thrive. He called on states and the private sector to focus on developing the necessary infrastructure and skills to harness this potential.

“Concert economy boosts tourism and creates large-scale employment,” Modi said, highlighting the importance of investing in event management, artist development, security, and other related areas. “New possibilities are emerging in all these areas,” he added.

Coldplay’s Historic Concerts

Coldplay’s concerts, part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, set new records in India. The band performed five concerts, with three shows in Mumbai and two in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Their final concert in Ahmedabad drew a crowd of 134,000, surpassing the previous record by over 60,000 attendees. This achievement marked the largest ticketed concert ever held in India, further proving the growing appeal of large-scale live events in the country.

In addition to live concerts, PM Modi highlighted the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in India, which is expected to enhance the country’s global presence in the creative industry.

“Next month, India will host the first-ever World Audio Visual Summit, or WAVES. It will be a major event, showcasing India’s creative power to the world,” he announced.
