Commissioner Explain guidelines to the various political parties and candidates on the Model Code of Conduct

Hyderabad: He said that as part of the general conduct, action will be taken as per the RP Act 1951 against those who behaved in such a way as to insult the language, religion and community of the political parties. He said that political parties should not interact in such a way as to criticize others. He said that no campaign should be conducted in the premises of mosques, churches and temples. He said that votes should not be asked on the basis of caste and religion. He said that political parties should not give valuables to deceive voters, threaten voters and conduct campaign within 100 meters of polling stations. He said that no public meetings should be held till 48 hours before the polling date. He said that transport facilities should not be provided to the voters. He said that dharnas and protests should not be organized even at anyone’s house. He said that flags, banners, posters and wall writing should not be done on the land, building or compound wall of any party but the candidates in the ring without their permission. Political parties should not disturb the meetings of other parties held by their candidates and followers at different places, he said. He said that both the parties should not hold rallies and public meetings at the same place. He said that political parties and candidates should get permission from the local police authority to organize meetings, loudspeakers and rallies.

He said that badges and ID cards should be supplied to the polling agents of the political parties on the polling day. He said that the political parties should provide the identity slip to the voters in a white paper, which should not have any symbols, name of the candidate or name of the party on it. Political parties have been advised not to distribute alcohol two days before polling. Representatives of political parties should not be in large numbers at camp management sites.
