Waliullah Sameer, along with Bahadurpura Assembly incharge Pulipati Rajesh Kumar, Charminar Incharge Mujeebullah Shareef, and other senior leaders, held a massive rally on Sunday from Kishan Bagh Park to Aashur Khana in Kalapather.

Speaking to the media persons on the occasion, Waliullah Sameer stated that reducing unemployment would be his primary goal if he won the Hyderabad seat. According to a recent survey, the unemployment rate in Hyderabad stood at an alarmingly high 21%, with rates skyrocketing to 45% among those aged 20 to 24. Telangana was already governed by the Congress party, which was poised to form the government at the Centre. Given these favourable conditions, Sameer believed that eradicating unemployment was achievable.

To address unemployment, Sameer outlined a two-pronged approach: creating jobs locally and facilitating employment for Old City residents in other parts of Hyderabad. He stated that the Congress party’s national manifesto, the “Congress Nyay Patra,” promised one year of job guarantees for all graduates and diploma holders, which would benefit thousands of young people from the Old City. Additionally, the Congress government in Telangana had proposed creating Skill Universities to enhance youth employability.

Sameer also highlighted the Congress party’s commitment to minority welfare. In its “Minorities Declaration” for the Assembly elections, the party committed to increasing the minority welfare budget to Rs 4,000 crore, with a dedicated Minorities Sub-Plan. He hoped that a significant portion of this budget would be spent on economic empowerment, including self-employment schemes. The Congress government in Telangana also promised to provide Rs 1,000 crore annually to facilitate subsidized loans for unemployed minority youth and women, with 60-70% of the beneficiaries coming from the Old City.

Waliullah Sameer emphasized that the Congress government would revitalize SETWIN and promote skill development training. Additionally, the government aimed to transform the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) to improve infrastructure in the Old City, supporting the eradication of unemployment and poverty.

In his appeal to the people of Hyderabad, Sameer urged them to vote for the Congress party if they wanted to secure a brighter future for their children. He criticized the MIM and BJP for relying on divisive tactics and communal polarization to win elections, while Congress focused on a development agenda that included all citizens, regardless of religion or caste.

Sameer also criticized the long-standing neglect of the Old City, which had been flagged as a “Red Zone” by banks and other financial institutions. He pointed out that despite the MIM holding the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 1984, the party failed to address this discrimination. Waliullah Sameer promised to work to remove the stigma surrounding the Old City and ensure it was recognized as the true heart of Hyderabad. He appealed to the people to introspect on what they had achieved after voting for MIM and BJP over the last several decades. “Except for communal tension, discrimination, and backwardness, they got nothing. This time, the people of Hyderabad should vote for the Congress party to bring the necessary change they rightly deserve,” he said. (Maxim News)
