Congress Confident Of Jubilee Hills Victory: Uttam Kumar Reddy
- Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy says surveys show Congress lead in Jubilee Hills
- Congress highlights welfare initiatives and slams BRS and BJP
Hyderabad, October 30: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party was assured of a clear win in the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. Speaking during a door-to-door campaign in Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda division, he said that both public and internal surveys pointed toward a convincing Congress victory.
He was joined by Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and senior Congress leaders during the campaign. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the victory of the party’s candidate, Naveen Yadav, was certain. Describing it as a “guaranteed win,” he said the strong public response and favourable reports confirm the people’s trust in the Congress.
He accused the previous BRS government of ignoring the poor in Jubilee Hills for over a decade. “During 10 years of BRS rule, not even one white ration card was sanctioned to the poor in Jubilee Hills. This is a clear reflection of their apathy towards marginalised families,” he stated.
The Minister stressed that under the current Congress government, 40,000 new white ration cards were sanctioned in Jubilee Hills alone, helping local families. He added that across Telangana, the number of white ration cards increased from 89 lakh to over 1.15 crore in the last 20 months. Highlighting another achievement, he said Telangana became the first state to launch large-scale distribution of fine rice to 3.15 crore people, benefiting SC, ST, BC, and minority communities.
“Under our leadership, 85% of the state’s population belonging to SC, ST, BC, and minority communities are receiving fine rice through the public distribution system,” he said, adding that the initiative has strengthened faith in the government.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also spoke about flagship schemes like the Mahalakshmi program, which provides free bus travel for women, and Gruha Jyothi, offering 200 units of free electricity for poor families. He said these programs had provided “real and tangible relief” to households affected by high living costs.

The Minister criticised the BJP and BRS for conducting “false propaganda” against the government. “The same parties that neglected the poor for a decade are now spreading misinformation about a government that is actually delivering welfare on the ground. It is both ironic and unacceptable,” he said.
He credited Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for building public confidence in Congress leadership, adding that the same trust will lead to a decisive win in the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Meanwhile, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar accused the BJP and BRS of forming a “covert alliance” to weaken Congress. He asked voters to see through the conspiracy and reject it. “As someone who represented this constituency twice and now serves as a Union Minister, how much funding has he brought to Jubilee Hills? What has he done for the people here?” he asked, referring to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.
Several senior Congress leaders, including TPCC Working President and former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, also participated in the campaign.
