Congress DCC appointments | Hyderabad, Nov. 23: Congress leaders unveiled a major reshuffle in district Congress committee appointments and placed strong focus on backward class representation.
AICC general secretary KC Venugopal announced 36 district committees after an internal review.
The party gave top priority to BC, SC, ST, and minority leaders. The leadership also assigned district roles to five sitting MLAs.
The party included several corporation chairpersons and PCC leaders in this list. The committee also created space for five women leaders.
The appointments followed a month long review. AICC observers toured districts and gathered feedback from local leaders.
They later met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and AICC in charge Meenakshi Natarajan. They evaluated the suggestions and finalised the new list.
The party implemented 42 percent reservation for BCs in DCC appointments. The leadership allotted 17 DCC president posts to BC leaders and signalled its intent to strengthen social inclusion.
The party also supported SC, ST, and minority leaders. It gave opportunities to six ST leaders. The list included three women from ST communities.
It also supported Lambada and Gond leaders. The party offered roles to three minority leaders, including two Muslims and one Christian.
Congress DCC appointments | DCC Reshuffle Gains Pace
Congress leaders included several MLAs in district roles. The party appointed Aleru MLA and government whip Bheerla Ilaiah as Bhongir district president.
Choppadandi MLA Medipalli Satyam will lead the Karimnagar unit. Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander will guide the Nagar Kurnool committee.
Achampet MLA Chikkudu Vamsi Krishna will head the Nirmal unit. The leadership also assigned Edma Bojju to Nirmal district.
The committee also promoted several women leaders. The party selected PCC vice president Kavath Dhanwanti for Jangaon.
It appointed MLA Murali Naik Sateemani for Mahabubabad. Former municipal chairperson Uma will lead Asifabad. The party named Atram Suguna for the same district. It also selected Thota Devi Prasanna for Kothagudem.
The committee included Aakanksha Reddy, daughter of former MLA Toomkunta Narsa Reddy, for Siddipet.
The party also entrusted corporation chairperson Shivasena Reddy with the Vanaparthi DCC. KUDA chairperson Inugala Venkata Ramireddy will direct the Warangal unit.
