The Congress alleged that the central government is misusing the Enforcement Directorate to harass senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

According to party leaders, the protest programme aimed to highlight what they described as political vendetta by the BJP government. As a result, Congress workers attempted to organise dharnas and rallies near BJP offices in Hyderabad and multiple districts. However, police intervened at many places, citing lack of permission, which escalated tensions.

The situation turned volatile when some Congress workers allegedly threw eggs at the BJP office. BJP workers present at the spot attempted to confront them, but police stepped in to prevent clashes.

Police later detained Congress leaders and dispersed the protesters to restore order. Similar tense scenes were reported from Warangal, where clashes involving Congress and BRS supporters created law and order concerns.

Several Congress MLAs participated in the protests in different districts and were arrested by the police.

The statewide protests underline the growing political confrontation between the Congress and BJP over the National Herald case, even as authorities maintain that law and order will be strictly enforced. (Maxim News )
