Hyderabad, Sept. 18: A team of Congress MPs and MLCs inspected assigned lands linked to BRS MLA T Harish Rao’s relative in Siddipet district on Friday.
The team visited Velikatta village in Kondapaka mandal following directions from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
The inspection covered 6 acres and 2 guntas in Survey No. 271 on the village outskirts.
The land is linked to Madhavaram Hanumantha Rao, Harish Rao’s father in law, according to reports.
The delegation met Kondapaka Tahsildar Mallikarjun Reddy and sought details about the land.
Congress Team Examines Assigned Land Records
The Congress delegation examined revenue records, pahani documents and pattadar details related to the land.
It also sought details about the purchase and transfer of the assigned land.
The team questioned officials on whether the land was transferred in accordance with the applicable rules.
Earlier, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy had questioned the registration of assigned land linked to Harish Rao’s father in law.
According to reports, Survey No. 271 at Velikatta contains a large extent of assigned government land.
A recent report said 6 acres and 18 guntas linked to Hanumantha Rao were purchased from assigned landholders in 2010 and 2011.
The latest inspection comes amid a wider political dispute between the Congress and BRS over land records and alleged irregularities.
Harish Rao has disputed allegations concerning his properties and said details of his assets were disclosed in his election affidavits.
The inspection is expected to lead to further scrutiny of the land records and the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the assigned land.
