Congress presidential aspirant Shashi Tharoor visits city, Revanth evades

Hyderabad, Oct.3 (NSS): The presidential post aspirant of the Congress and party MP Shashi Tharoor today toured the city as part of his election campaigning. Several State party leaders welcomed Tharoor. However, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy kept himself away from the event.

It is learned that Revanth Reddy did not receive Tharoor as he has a clear message from the party’s high command to extend his complete support to another party president aspirant Mallikarjun Kharge. However, Tharoor did not miss the opportunity and tweeted stating that he was expressing his deep condolences at the death of a relative of Revanth Reddy.

Tharoor wished that he would meet Revanth on a different occasion. He said he was extending his greetings to Revanth and his team members. Veteran party leader and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh bowed out of the race for the president’s post following the entry of the party’s veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who is a known loyalist of Sonia Gandhi’s family.

Kharge has a rich political experience as the leader of the party in Rajya Sabha and as a former union minister. The election to the party president post is scheduled to be held on October 17. (NSS)
