Congress Sets Target To Win 100% Seats In Local Body Elections
Hyderabad, Oct 1 (Maxim News) : The Telangana Congress is gearing up for the upcoming local body elections with a clear target of winning 100 percent of the seats.
The party aims to start the first phase of nominations for the five-phase elections from October 9, as leaders across the state intensify preparations.
On Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy convened a key meeting with TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar, party affairs incharge, Deputy Chief Minister, and several ministers via Zoom. The meeting focused on the meticulous selection of candidates for ZPTC seats and the overall election strategy.
During the meeting, CM Revanth instructed ministers and district Congress committee presidents to submit the names of candidates for ZPTC seats to the PCC by October 5.
He emphasized consulting MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and key local leaders to identify three strong candidates for each ZPTC seat. “The PCC will select candidates who have a chance of winning by six or seven. Not even the slightest mistake should be made in the selection of candidates,” he said.
CM Revanth also stressed the importance of campaigning and ensuring that government welfare schemes and development programs reach the people.
TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar underlined the need for unanimous candidate selection and clarified that the PCC would resolve any differences of opinion.
Party sources indicated that the municipality election notification may come only after November 11, and election results are expected by the end of December.
Nominated posts for local bodies and the selection of DCC presidents may be postponed due to the electoral code. District leaders have been asked to focus on candidate selection for MPTC seats and to manage competition carefully.
With strategic planning and rigorous selection underway, the Telangana Congress appears determined to secure a strong mandate in the local body elections, signaling an intense political phase for the state. (Maxim News)
