“Congress Stands for Agriculture and Electricity”: Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Vows Support for Telangana Farmers
Khammam/Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and ensuring electricity access during his visit to Paleru in Kusumanchi Mandal, Khammam district. Alongside Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, he officially released water from Nagarjuna Sagar’s second zone, marking a key moment in the region’s irrigation cycle.
Addressing the gathering, Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized that Congress stands firmly for agriculture and power supply, promising renewed efforts to support farmers and boost crop production across Telangana.
BRS Blamed for Water Injustice
Bhatti alleged that the previous BRS government failed to protect Telangana’s rightful share of river water.
“We warned earlier that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project above the Srisailam dam would harm farmers in Khammam and Nalgonda districts,” he said.
“Despite this, BRS failed to oppose the construction, and now Telangana is bearing the brunt.”
He further added that Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal can draw 1 TMC of water, which could significantly benefit the region if managed properly. He criticized BRS leaders for spreading “false propaganda” and urged the public to remain vigilant.
Congress’ Vision for Telangana’s Agriculture
Highlighting the Congress government’s farmer-centric agenda, Bhatti said:
- The Koil Sagar project will be completed soon.
- The Krishna and Godavari rivers’ shares will be actively pursued.
- Farmer investment assistance and insurance have already been introduced.
- Irrigation projects like the Paleru Left Canal are being executed on a war footing.
- The aim is to make Telangana a major grain-producing state.
“About 65% of Telangana’s population depends on agriculture. The Congress government will move forward with policies that prioritize farmers’ welfare, irrigation, and rural development,” he added.
