Congress To Organise Massive Dharna Against CAA, NRC Today
Hyderabad, December 20 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Friday informed that a massive dharna would be held at Indira Park on Saturday in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and proposed National Register of Citizenship (NRC).
He was speaking to media persons after holding a protest at Jama Masjid, Mallepally after Friday prayers. He said that the Congress party would register its protest against CAA and NRC by organising massive protest at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park on Saturday from 10 AM onwards. He said Telangana Incharge R.C. Khuntia, TPCC President & MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior leaders of Congress party would participate in the programme.
Sohail said that the BJP Government at the Centre should take note of the ongoing protests across the country and recall CAA. He said instead of responding to the demand being raised by crores of people across the country, BJP Govt was trying to suppress their voice by shutting down the internet. He said that the world has witnessed several revolutions during the pre-internet era and therefore, the voice of common people could not be suppressed. He also questioned the silence of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on the issue. He asked as to what was preventing KCR from making an announcement rejecting CAA and NRC. He said that the TRS party has voted against CAB in the Parliament and KCR should officially announce that the controversial CAA and proposed NRC would not be implemented in Telangana State in future.
Earlier, Congress leaders including TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, TPCC General Secretary Faheem, Hyderabad Congress Minorities Department Chairman Sameer Waliullah, participated in the proest held at Mallepally Masjid. (Maxim News)
