Conman Dupes Two Businessmen in Hyderabad, Escapes with Gold and US Dollars

Hyderabad, March 22 (Maxim News): A conman posing as a businessman tricked two traders and escaped with half a kilogram of gold and US dollars in Gachibowli on Friday.

According to police, the fraudster, who identified himself as Stephen, contacted Chandrasekhar, a gold trader from Narsingi, and Rafi, who is in the foreign currency exchange business. He claimed he wanted to purchase gold and exchange foreign currency and invited them to meet him at a hotel in Gachibowli.

“Believing his claims, Chandrasekhar and Rafi arrived at the hotel in the afternoon. Stephen took them to a hotel room, collected the gold and foreign currency, and assured them that he would return with the payment in a few minutes,” a Gachibowli police official said.

However, after waiting for a long time, the two traders grew suspicious and inquired with the hotel management, only to realize that they had been duped. Unable to trace Stephen, they complained to the Gachibowli police, who registered a case and launched an investigation. (Maxim News)
