Controversy Over Movie “Chavaa” In AP: Appeal To Collector To Stop Release
Hyderabad, Mar 6 (Maxim News): Controversy is brewing around the Telugu release of Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal’s Chavaa. Bunny Vas is releasing Chavaa in Telugu under the banner of Geetha Arts. Chavaa is hitting the theatres tomorrow (March 7). In this context, Chavaa has become embroiled in a controversy.
Mohammed Zia-ul-Haq, President of the Muslim Federation of Andhra Pradesh, recently met the Nellore District Collector and submitted a memorandum requesting him to stop the release of Chavaa. It is learnt that Zia-ul-Haq stated in the memorandum that the film Chavaa was made by distorting history.
Also, he said that the movie depicts the 16th-century Aurangzeb as a tyrant, and therefore, there were clashes in North India before its release, and there is a possibility of such communal clashes in AP as well. Therefore, Zia-ul-Hoque is demanding that the movie be stopped from being released. The audience is curious to see what decision will be taken by the collector.
With only one day left for the release of Chavaa, the audience is wondering whether the film will actually be released in AP tomorrow or not. However, ticket bookings have already been made in two Telugu states.
“Chavaa” was released in Hindi on February 14. The film is based on the reign of Maharaj Sambhaji, the eldest son of Maharaja Chhatrapati Shivaji and Jijabai. Rashmika Mandanna plays the role of Shambhaji’s wife Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale in the film. Akshaye Khanna plays the role of Emperor Aurangzeb. This historical action drama has earned a worldwide net collection of Rs. 500 crores in just three weeks. It is now heading towards Rs. 1000 crores. (Maxim News)
