Coronavirus: 466 Cops Test Positive So Far In AP

Visakhapatnam: As many as 466 police officials in State police who were working in the frontline to contain COVID-19 had tested positive for the disease so far, according to Director General of Police Goutham Sawang.

Participating in a `Meet-the-Press’ programme here on Sunday after a two-day visit to the city, he commended the services of the police which has done exceptionally well during the lockdown periods and after its relaxation by functioning in accordance with the State and Central guidelines.

He said that the state was on the high alert with respect to the COVID-19 and was better placed compared to other states. Special care was being taken with respect to the staff with those above 55 years of age and also those with health issues not assigned frontline jobs, he revealed.
