Hyderabad, Jan 1 (Maxim News): A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a couple who were heading to New Year celebrations in Hyderabad on Thursday night (January 1, 2026). The incident occurred at Moosarambagh, when a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus ran over them, resulting in their death on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Tirupathi Rao (50) and Venkatamma (45), natives of Suryapet district. The couple had come to Hyderabad to visit their daughter, who resides in Kothapet, Dilsukhnagar.
According to the police, the couple was travelling on a two-wheeler towards Tank Bund at around 9 pm to take part in New Year celebrations. During the journey, Tirupathi Rao allegedly applied sudden brakes, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. As a result, both riders fell onto the road.
Tragically, they came under the rear wheels of an RTC bus belonging to the Dilsukhnagar depot, which was moving behind their vehicle. Both victims suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot, said Malakpet ACP K. Subba Rami Reddy.
