Crust Gates Of Srisailam Lifted To Release Water To Nagarjuna Sagar 

Hyderabad, July 29 (Maxim News): Krishna River has flooded due to heavy rains in the upper states. Due to this, a large amount of water is coming from Jurala and Sunkesula to the Srisailam project, and the project is filled. In this background, on Monday, the authorities lifted 9 crust gates and released water to lower Nagarjunasagar. The officials are ready to lift the gates of the project at 4 pm today.  However, it was decided to release the water early due to the flood.

In this order, the fishermen in the downstream areas are being alerted.  Meanwhile, presently, 4,36,433 cusecs of flood water are coming to Srisailam reservoir from Jurala and Sunkashila, while 62,857 cusecs of water are being released downstream.  The full water level of the project was 885 feet, but now it has reached 876.70 feet. The maximum water level was 215.8070 TMC and now it has reached 171.8625 TMC

Electricity generation continues in the right and left hydropower stations. While 3.5 lakh cusecs of flood water are coming to the Jurala project, 3 lakh cusecs of water are being released downstream through 41 gates. The current water level of the project is 317.73 meters. There is now 5.42 TMC of water stored in the reservoir. (Maxim News)
