Cultivate Fine Quality Rice: Niranjan to Farmers

Hyderabad, March 30 (Maxim News): State Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy today urged the farmers of the state to cultivate fine quality rice in their fields. He made it clear to the farmers that it was not good for them to follow one and another and cultivate rice. He asked the farmers to increase the area of cultivation of cotton and red gram in the state.

The minister said that the state government had given a surety of Rs. 20,000 crore to the Civil Supplies Corporation for the procurement of the food grains.

Speaking to media persons at ministers quarters , he said that the CM of the state had decided to stand by the farmers of the state. He said that there was a need to introduce a lot of changes in the cultivation methods of the state. Stating that the paddy is cultivated in 52.79 lakh acres of land, he said that they were expecting a production of 1.32 lakh metric tonnes of paddy .

He said that FCI would procure 80 lakh metric tonnes of the expected production and added that the remaining 20 lakh metric tonnes would be procured by millers of the state. He said that the seed companies would buy 10 lakh metric tonnes from the farmers. He told the farmers to bring their paddy as per the prescribed humidity levels . (Maxim News)
