CWC, Vijaya Bheri meetings will be starting point for Congress’ return to power: Uttam
Hyderabad, September 15: Nalgonda MP and Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) member Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad and the Vijaya Bheri public meeting in Tukkuguda near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on September 16 and 17 would be the starting point for the Congress party’s return to power in Telangana and at the Centre.
He was addressing a series of meetings in Kodad, Huzurnagar and other places in his Nalgonda parliamentary constituencies on Friday to mobilize the crowd for the Vijaya Bheri meeting. He said that the Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency had the highest Congress membership in the country and it would ensure the largest participation of the public in the Vijaya Bheri meeting. “The first meeting of the reconstituted CWC is being held in Hyderabad on September 16-17. This has huge political significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the merger of the erstwhile Hyderabad State with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Sonia Gandhi is the “Telangana Talli” (mother of Telangana). “She granted statehood to Telangana despite knowing that the Congress party would suffer huge political losses in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, Sonia Gandhi never regretted deciding statehood for Telangana, as she fulfilled the 60-year-old dream of the people of Telangana,” he said.
He said that the Congress party would unveil five guarantees at the Vijaya Bheri meeting in the presence of Sonia Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, future Prime Minister Rahul Gandhi and other leaders. He said those five guarantees would ensure the overall growth of Telangana and address the concerns of the most vulnerable sections of society.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that there were several issues which remained neglected during the nine-year rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS). With over 25 lakh qualified youth registered with the Telangana Public Service Commission alone, unemployment is at its peak. Lakhs of students are suffering due to the non-payment of scholarships and fee reimbursement. Thousands have discontinued their higher studies due to a lack of support from the BRS government. He pointed out that the number of schools and colleges in Telangana under the TRS rule has been reduced by almost half while the number of liquor shops, pubs, and bars has increased by more than four times in the last 9 years.
The Congress MP said that the CWC’s meeting in Hyderabad was of high significance as it precedes the special session of Parliament. He said that the BJP government has smothered democracy and is trying to impose dictatorship. He said that it was unprecedented that the main agenda for the special session of Parliament was kept a secret from the opposition. He said that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and other Congress leaders would speak about the dangers that democracy in India is facing from the BJP government at the Centre.
He said the Congress leaders would also expose the nexus between BJP and BRS who have been deceiving the people of Telangana. He appealed to the people to participate in the Vijaya Bheri meeting in large numbers to express their gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for granting statehood to Telangana and to also express their anger against the non-performance of the TRS government.
