Cyber Crime Police Refunded Lost Amount To The Victims

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad City Cyber Crime Police refunded an amount of Rs. 53 lakhs to victims in Cr. No. 2230/2024. The victim was cheated by cyber fraudsters on the pretext of Fedex.

Case Facts:

A complaint was received from an 84-year-old male from Hyderabad, stating that cyber fraudsters had cheated him on the pretext of Fedex. The fraudsters contacted the complainant through WhatsApp video call and claimed themselves as CBI officials, and then the fraudsters threatened the complainant by saying that he was involved in 68 crores of rupees of financial fraud cases. Then the complainant was frightened that he would be put in jail, and as per the fraudster’s instructions, the complainant transferred an amount of Rs. 2.,88 crores to the fraudster’s provided bank accounts. 

The Cyber Crime Police, Hyderabad, registered a case in Cr. No. 2230/2024, U/s: 66(C), 66(D) of the IT Act, and 308(2), 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2) of BNS, and investigated into.

Inspector K. Prasada Rao, along with PCs D. Shekar, H. Shekar, S. Srinivas Reddy, and WPC Kum Fouziya Begum have made efforts, sent notices to the bank officials, followed up with them to freeze the fraudulent amount, and guided the complainant to file a petition in court for the refund of the amount held in the fraudulent accounts to the complainant’s bank account.

Based on the sincere efforts of staff, the Court has issued orders to the banks for a refund of the amount (1) Rs. 53,00,000/-from Axis Bank, Surat, and (2) Rs. 50,00,000/-from SBI, Kerala. Thereafter, on regular follow-up with the bank officials, today Rs. 53,00,000/- was transferred to the complainant’s source account.   (Maxim News)
