Cyberabad Police Bus Cyber Mule Network, Nine People Arrested For Aiding Online Fraud
Hyderabad, July 25, 2025 (Maxim News): In a major crackdown on digital financial crime, the Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police, in coordination with the Medchal Special Operations Team (SOT), have busted a well-organized cyber mule network and arrested nine individuals for facilitating fraudulent online transactions.
Who Was Arrested?
The arrested individuals include:
- Sumit Rathore and Manvendra Singh Rathore from Rajasthan
- Mohammed Nadeem ur Rehman, MD Nayeem ur Rahaman, Mohd Shaffi, S. Bharath, Telugu Mahesh, Abdul Khaled, and J. Mahesh, all from Hyderabad
Police say the group was operating a cyber fraud syndicate that funneled illegal proceeds from online scams through multiple current bank accounts, commonly referred to as “mule accounts.”
How the Scam Worked
These accounts were controlled using unauthorized mobile applications, SIM swaps, and even malicious APK files. The suspects lodged account holders in hotels near DLF, Gachibowli, collected their bank documents, and used the malicious app to gain remote access to these accounts.
According to officials, the suspects were taking instructions from an international cyber handler, identified on Telegram under the alias “Jack“
“They were shifting hotels every few days to evade detection. Facilitators even flew in from Rajasthan to manage operations on the ground,” Cyber Crime officials revealed.
What Was Seized
During the operation, police confiscated:
- 16 mobile phones
- 2 cars
- 1 laptop
- ₹82,000 in cash
Authorities are now working to trace additional beneficiaries, analyze digital trails, and track down the mastermind, “Jack.”
Public Advisory
Cyberabad Police have urged citizens to stay alert and not share bank details or install unknown apps on their devices. For any cyber fraud complaints, people are encouraged to contact their nearest Cybercrime Police Station or Dial 1930.
