Cyberabad Police Busts PDS Rice Smuggling Rings in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, April 17 (Maxim News): In a major crackdown on illegal PDS rice trade, the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) along with local police stations have busted four criminal syndicates operating within the Cyberabad Commissionerate. Four PDS rice smuggling rings busted and arrested 8 individuals. Over 54 tonnes of PFDS rice were seized (valued at Rs. 10.8 crores, and vehicles and other assets valued at Rs. 38 crores.

According to the details, the coordinated effort led to the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of PDS rice, vehicles, and other assets. Here’s a breakdown of the cases:

Shamshabad & Shadnagar: Two cases involving 26.2 tonnes of rice, one arrested, one lorry seized (Rs. 25.2 crore total value)

Shamshabad: One case involving 9.25 tonnes of rice, one arrested, one DCM seized (Rs. 9.35 crore total value)

Rachakonda: One case involving 1 tonne of rice seized from a godown

Rajendranagar: In one case involving 17.58 tonnes of rice, five were arrested, one DCM, and a two-wheeler seized (Rs. 14.01 crore total value)

These operations deal a severe blow to the illegal PDS rice trade in the region. They demonstrate the Cyberabad Police’s commitment to protecting public welfare systems and ensuring essential resources reach those in need. (Maxim News)
