Cyberabad Police Intensify Crackdown on Drunk Driving

Hyderabad, March 16 (Maxim News): The Cyberabad Traffic Police launched a rigorous campaign against drunk driving over the weekend, resulting in the apprehension of 315 offenders.

During the operation, police seized:

  • 233 two-wheelers
  • 5 three-wheelers
  • 71 four-wheelers
  • 6 heavy vehicles

Among the offenders, 31 individuals were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) between 200 mg/100 ml and 500 mg/100 ml, while 2 offenders had BAC levels exceeding 500 mg/100 ml.

Legal Consequences for Offenders

All those caught will be produced before the court. Authorities have warned that anyone found driving under the influence and causing an accident that results in fatalities will face strict legal action.

Under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), such offenders can be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail along with a fine.

The Cyberabad Police have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy toward drunk driving and urged citizens to follow road safety regulations. (Maxim News)
