Dairy sector generates huge employment: Talasani

Dairy sector | Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said the State government was encouraging the dairy business in a big way as the sector had the potential to create self-employment.

The Minister on Saturday inaugurated 66 ice cream push carts, designed on the try-cycles by the Telangana State Dairy Development Co-operative Federation Limited, popularly known as Vijaya Dairy, on the People’s Plaza road in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the State was facing a shortage of milk and this was the reason it is being imported from neighbouring States.

Stating that the dairy sector has the potential to create self-employment and drive women empowerment, the minister said the State government was encouraging in a big way and is also involving different stakeholders into the business by offering huge incentives.

The department has constituted a team comprising a team of officials to expedite measures for improving the milk production and for promoting the dairy sector in a major way in Telangana State,” Talasani said, adding that the dairy is the most employment generation sector after the agriculture in Telangana. He said the State government was offering subsidy on the purchase of the push carts for selling the Vijaya dairy products aimed at generating employment to the youth.

Talasani said the Vijaya dairy products are named popular not only in the State but also others States in India. He asked the unemployed youth to avail the facility being provided by the Vijaya Dairy on the purchase of push carts and utilise the opportunity for the generation of their income.

Because of the measures taken by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Vijaya Dairy, once loss making organisation, was running on the profit path and has generated over Rs 750 crore turnover during the last financial year, and it is aimed at reaching Rs 1000 crore mark in the days to come, Talasani added.
