Hyderabad, Oct 22 (Maxim News): Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha strongly dismissed allegations made against the functioning of Basti Dawakhanas, calling them part of “false propaganda” driven by political motives. The minister’s remarks came following statements by BRS leaders Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao, who, after visits to certain urban clinics, alleged that Basti Dawakhanas lacked medicines and facilities. Responding to these claims, Narasimha said such comments were damaging public confidence in government-run health services. He highlighted that each Basti Dawakhana provides 134 types of medical tests entirely free of cost, ensuring accessible and affordable health care for citizens.

He added that around 45,000 people seek treatment daily at these urban clinics. Doctors and medicines, he said, remain available across all centers, reflecting the administration’s commitment to uninterrupted primary care. Narasimha noted that these facilities reduce people’s medical expenses and keep essential services close to the communities they serve.

Damodar Raja Narasimha accused his critics of attempting to strengthen private healthcare interests by defaming government hospitals. Calling the act “unfortunate,” he warned that spreading such narratives harms the poor the most by discouraging them from visiting public hospitals. The minister reaffirmed that the government’s focus remains on expanding diagnostic services and maintaining a reliable supply chain for essential medicines.

He said staff across the Basti Dawakhana network are working diligently to ensure service continuity. Emphasizing trust and transparency, he stated that misleading claims made for political mileage would not withstand public scrutiny. “Citizens will deliver the right lesson to those who target public health systems for political reasons,” he said, expressing confidence in frontline staff and doctors.
