A 2018-batch constable, Sandeep, 30, was patrolling in the area in plainclothes on a motorcycle after reports of an increase in burglaries were received, the police said.
“He saw that a WagonR car was being driven recklessly and he asked the driver to not drive rashly. Suddenly, the car sped up and hit constable Sandeep from behind, dragging him for about 10 m before eventually hitting another vehicle,” said Jimmy Chiram, DCP Outer Delhi.

Chiram said that two people were wanted over the incident and that they were absconding. Chiram said that CCTV footage shows that Sandeep took a left turn and gestured to the WagonR to slow down. The car accelerated and hit Sandeep’s motorcycle and dragged him. It then hit a parked car.
“Sandeep was taken to Sonia Hospital and later shifted to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar. He sustained head injuries, which led to his death,” Chiram said. The constable lived with his wife, mother, and five-year-old son.
