Devotees Barred From Entering Kanaka Durga Temple Till March 31
Vijayawada, March 20 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh government temporarily suspended devotees’ darshan of goddess Kanaka Durga atop Indrakeeladri Temple here from this evening as a preventive measure to stop the spread of COVID-19. The temple is situated atop Indrakeeladri hill, on the banks of the Krishna River. The State government has taken the decision on the advice of the temple board following increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases throughout the country.
Speaking to the media on here Friday, Kanaka Durga Temple chairman Somi Naidu said daily rituals in the temples will be performed by the priests as usual but the devotees will not be allowed to enter the temple for a darshan. He appealed to the pilgrims to cooperate with decision of the government.
Along with the Tirumala temple, Vijayawada has many famous temples across the State were closed for the devotees’ worship. However, the daily rituals in the temples will continue but the devotees will not be allowed to enter the temple and have a darshan. Somi Naidu also said vehicles will not be allowed on the ghat road leading to the temple. The temporary closure will remain till March 31. (Maxim News)
