DGP Shivadhar Reddy clarifies on Forensic Science Lab fire incident

Hyderabad, Feb. 10 (Maxim News): Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy on Tuesday clarified that investigations are ongoing into the fire accident at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Nampally, which has become a major topic of discussion across the state.

Addressing the media at the DGP office after a review meeting on municipal election preparedness, Shivadhar Reddy responded to reports suggesting that files related to sensitive cases were destroyed in the blaze.

The DGP stated that although the server room was affected by the fire, police officials are making serious efforts to retrieve data through backup systems.

DGP Reddy categorically denied reports that files related to the high-profile ‘Vote for Note’ case were destroyed in the incident.
Shivadhar Reddy clarified that the ‘Vote for Note’ case files were officially handed over to the court as early as 2021 and were not stored at the FSL at the time of the fire. He also said that reports related to the phone tapping case had already been submitted earlier. DGP Shivadhar Reddy further informed that data related to seven other crucial cases is currently being retrieved and restored.

The DGP assured that there is no attempt to suppress or destroy evidence and that the truth regarding the fire incident will be established through a transparent investigation. (Maxim News)
