Drugs Control Authority Raids Quack’s Clinic, Seizes Drugs

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (Maxim News):  The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a clinic of a quack.  Baithula Ramulu, and seized drugs worth Rs. 1.5 lakh that were illegally stocked for sale at Jangampally Village, Peddamandadi Mandal, Wanaparthy District.

During raids, the DCA teams seized nearly 42 varieties of medicines including analgesics, and antibiotics including Cefpodoxime, Cefixime, Amoxycillin, Steroids, and antiulcer drugs that were stored illegally for sale.  The DCA officials also found steroids including Prednisolone and Dexamethasone at the quack’s clinic. 

The DCA Telangana issues drug licenses for the stocking and selling of medicines per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.  Stocking drugs for sale without a drug license is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with imprisonment for up to five years.

The public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10.30 am to 5 pm on all working days, DG, TSDCA, VB Kamalsan Reddy said.  (Maxim News)
