As part of the ongoing inquiry, the ED has issued notices to several victims of the scheme, directing them to appear before its office on September 15 for questioning. Sources said the victims’ statements are crucial in establishing the money trail and the involvement of intermediaries.

Investigators have zeroed in on Moinuddin and his associates, who allegedly purchased sheep from farmers in Andhra Pradesh and then defrauded them to the tune of nearly ₹2 crore. According to the ED, the proceeds that should have gone to the farmers were instead diverted.

Preliminary findings revealed that Moinuddin, with the alleged support of certain government officials, transferred the funds into benami accounts and those held in his name. The government is now looking into how much official collaboration and financial wrongdoing there is.

With the ED stepping in, the probe has gained momentum and could expose a wider network behind the sheep distribution scam. Further questioning of victims and suspects is expected to shed light on the financial misappropriation. (Maxim News)
