Edappadi K Palaniswami is AIADMK’s CM candidate in Tamil Nadu
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) announced its chief ministerial candidate for the Tamilnadu Assembly polls in May 2021.
AIADMK coordinator and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam declared chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) as the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections
It is to mention here that after the demise of former CM J Jayalalithaa, his close associate O Panneerselvam was made the CM, however, VK Sasikala soon started taking charge of the state affairs.
Then in February 2017, Panneerselvam resigned citing personal reasons. It was assumed that Sasikala would be made the head of the state but O Paneersalvem sat on a Dharma Yuddham at Jayalalithaa’s memorial, ultimately leading to his expulsion from the party. This paved the way for Palaniswami who was propped as the CM by Sasikala.
Palaniswami, who is the joint coordinator of the party, annonced the members of a steering committee, which is OP’s long pending demand for the merger of factions after the death of former chief minister J jayalalithaa.
