Election Duties Must Be Efficiently Performed: Ronald Rose

Hyderabad, October 27: District Electoral Officer, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose said that the training classes of election officials should be conducted effectively. On Friday, the district election officer instructed PO, APO and polling staff of Mushirabad constituency in a training program held at Domalaguda AV College.

On this occasion, the election officer Ronald Rose said that the officers and staff performing the election duties should not take the training classes lightly but should take them seriously. Actions and responsibilities to be taken by POs on the occasion of polling day were briefly explained. In the background of the Election Commission having issued the regulations related to the duties for each item, the duties should be carried out as per the rules incorporated in the P.O. Book. Explained about the points to be observed during mock polling. Mock polling should be completed by 5.30 am and at least two agents must be present, he said. After that, if you don’t see it after 15 minutes, you should make a P.O.

Some POs said that they do not come to training and make mistakes with overconfidence. The PO is not responsible for taking the EVMs on the day of distribution and returning them in the evening after the end of the polling day. A political agent may question you. It is the responsibility of the PO officer to answer it. He said that on the day of polling, you are not the boss and you have to prepare a report after the poll. Election code of conduct should be followed and regular training measures will be taken if mistakes are made. He said that even the government will not care if it is suspended during elections. Even the polling day agent in the town does not remember, so there is a problem, if you have any doubts, tell me. Election PO Book should be followed. Second training will be done. The right to vote should be exercised only if the name is in the voter list. He said that a BLO help center will be set up near the voter booth. Main Electoral Roll. He said that there will be an Asd list and it should be examined. Let him enter only if his name is in the voter list
The polling agent shall be present at the prescribed time. The voter should bring 12 ID cards specified by Election Commission, not Sleep ID.

The table is mostly arranged in the reception center. He said that arrangements are being made to send it quickly. Free of cost transport will be arranged from the reception center to the polling staff back home. We are making minimum arrangements at the polling booth. Toilets, drinking water, lighting and odomus will be arranged for mosquito control. Women staff should go home and be ready till 5 am before mock polling. He said that this time the Election Commission has given flexibility to women employees participating in the elections. He said that the responsibility of EVMs is that of POs. He said that if the PO is appointed as a male officer, a female officer will be appointed as APO and if a female officer is appointed as PO, a male officer will be appointed as APO.

If a polling agent is present at a local polling station, he should vote only if his name is on the voter’s list. Only those above 18 years of age are eligible for blind voting if the polling booth agent is a voter in that constituency. For those who come as assistants, a drop of ink should be applied to the next finger of the right hand.

Do not go anywhere with EVM. Form-12D is given to the polling staff as service voter. Think about it. It will be given in the next training class. You have to vote on the spot instead of taking it home.
He said that POs should listen carefully to the training classes and conduct the elections effectively in the context of changes in the rules for each election.
